I have never read anything from Gentosha... A glimpse of their latest publications didn't impress me. Hopefully they'll net a few hit titles with their new label. I'm starving for a good, intelligent sci-fi read...

Gentosha is known for publishing BL novels (light novels) under two BL labels (Lynx Romance and Rutile Bunko), but as the hetrosexual male I am, I of course do not touch these.
I'm not sure why but Genrou Fantasia Novels' official site got me a little excited (maybe its the girl with the guns??? lol). anyway, this might be a label to look forward to :)

Apparently they're scouting for new writing talents. The official site is asking for students to submit stories. A good strategy in my opinion, considering that student competitions have netted more than a handful of superstars for Kadokawa.
I wish they'd do that here in the US, so we can start publishing our own light novels.

Recruiting only students is a great idea, it will bring new/fresh talents. They are not only recruiting writers but also illustrators, and giving awards in the novel section and in the illustration section. Students up to the age of 29 can apply to either (writing a novel or illustrating). A "student limited" grand prix >_<
Can't wait to see what novels and illustrations will win :)

Gentosha released this book that includes character illustrations by Yosuke Kozaki:

His artsyle looks great, he should be illustrating for the new label, though he most likely won't (he's 30 years old).

You know I'm actually a sucker for artbooks. I thought Yusuke Kozaki's character design in the bizarre Gonzo anime Shutter Kill is top notch. Judging from the cover art, this artbook KYMG will probably be on my watching list.
I think Yusuke Kozaki's artistic style is perfectly suited for serious SF works, there is a dark and mature feel to his designs.

I just got interested in magna and anime recently, I will totally check it out, hopefully if the novel is written in japanese that it will not be a painful translation.

I have not heard of this before, I am currently trying to collect a list of all magna and anime publishers for my wife who writes and is trying to break into that genre, a new publisher might take more interest in her work, thanks mate.
